In the now legendary República de las Bananas, a corrupt military dictatorship reigns, where the members are only interested in money and power.

In the game Junta, their means range from intrigue to revolution. At the beginning, a "president" is "elected," who draws an (unknown) budget from the pile of money, then appoints his 6 cabinet members and distributes part of his budget to them. Naturally, some ministers are not happy with their income, leading to plenty of intrigue and, eventually, the junta is staged, and the president is overthrown! The president can keep all the money he managed to transfer to a Swiss numbered account before his overthrow. Then, a new president is elected, and the game begins again. The winner, of course, is whoever has accumulated the most money in their own Swiss bank account at the end of the game, as is traditional in military dictatorships! The board game Junta, filled with black humor, has been a hit for over 30 years and was highly praised in the New York Times and the Washington Post when it was first released. The reissue of Junta presents the classic game in a new box format with updated game materials.
