Lost Cities is a card two-player series that takes you on thrilling archaeological expeditions. The objective of the game is to gain points by leading successful expeditions to different sites, represented by colored suits of cards.

At the beginning of the game, players receive cards in six different colors, each representing an expedition. On their turn, players either play a card to an expedition or discard it to the appropriate color discard pile. Cards must be played in ascending order, but do not need to be consecutive. The game continues until the last card is drawn from the deck, after which players score their expeditions.

Each expedition starts with a value of -20 points, and players must add higher value cards to make a profit. Special "handshake" cards represent investments and can multiply the expedition's value but also come with higher risks.

The game is played over three rounds, with scores from each round being added together.
